Setting his sights on mastering Product Management, Cephas Adenmosun joined the Motherboard Internship Program. Discover his journey through a comprehensive application and interview process, to onboarding and project ownership.Â
I applied for the Motherboard Internship Program because I wanted to improve my skills. I was interested in Product Management and Motherboard was offering the perfect opportunity for me to grow in that field.
The application and interview process at Motherboard was thorough. I liked that they included a case study during the interview. It gave me a chance to share my ideas and learn more about the company's objectives. The final interview with Lekan Olude, the founder of Motherboard, was very interesting and made the whole experience even better.Â
Naturally, I was thrilled to have been selected after going through the interview process. It was satisfying to know that I stood out among so many other applicants.
The onboarding process was smooth. Everyone extended a warm welcome and helped make settling in easy.
After onboarding came project selection. Taking ownership of a project was a highly rewarding experience. I had to create a product vision document to show my strategic thinking. It was a bit challenging but I eventually got the hang of it.Â
Working on this doc gave me a sense of responsibility, which I liked. I was able to apply my knowledge to tackle real challenges.
I enjoyed collaborating with others throughout the project. My team collectively addressed challenges, maintained clear communication, and our shared vision significantly contributed to the project's success. This teamwork was crucial in overcoming any problems we faced.
The project had some great results, like better team coordination, detailed PRDs, a notable decrease in post-release issues, improved feature prioritization, and the timely development of features. We were also able to set up a better product discovery process, improve documentation, and create a more effective feedback loop.Â
Throughout the project planning and execution, I experienced substantial personal growth. My creativity and independent thinking skills significantly improved, and I successfully integrated new tools into my workflow. Collaborating with cross-functional teams became more seamless, my time management improved, and I got better at writing PRDs. Overall, it was a great learning experience. I'm grateful for my time at Motherboard!
